I managed to get through Valentine's Day without my little sweetheart, SAM, but he was on my mind a lot. Mark and I had a nice evening in front of the fire with Tator, PixieNoodle, TinkerBelle and yes...GOLIATH! Mark has nver had indoor dogs so my four made it in two years ago because they are hairless but the gentle giant, Gloiath had to worm his way in gently. Because Mark is allergic to hairy dogs, as am I, Goliath stays on his special blanket. This blanket has become the "sumo wrestling:" mat for him and Tator! Remeber, out of all my dogs, she is the oldest, (14), and the tiniest (4.6 lbs.)! It is the CUTEST thing to watch as she does sort of a Mexican hatdance around him, tantalizing him and then he gently pounces. It reminds me of king Kong playing with his blonde "toy".
Don't forget!! The Ugly Dog contest is coming in a few months at the Sonoma-Marin Fair! Mark and I plan to be there with Tator and to represent the memory of our irreplacable, undefeated much beloved SAM. We will also be attending a smaller but similar contest this March in San Diego with Tator.
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day with your sweeties and your pets!
I am here looking at Sam's pics and I am crying, heartbroken.
He was lucky to have what lookslike a wonderful home.
It was sad to see him so sickly-looking and weird, but I bet he was a sweetheart. I really hope a Doggie Heaven exists, and he is having a grand ole time there.
Big hugs and kisses to you and all your canine loved ones!

Hi. My name is Alexandra(Alex) and I am 12 years old. I love sam. I never thought he was ugly. I thought he was adorable. Those characteristics about him made him beautiful. You're so lucky to have a loving dog like him. The thought of him dieing is very heart breaking. I DO hope he does go to heaven. Sam will be memorized throughout history. I hope, one day in heaven I get to meet sam. I won't ever forget him. =]

It's so hard when one loses a child, whether human or otherwise, especially during any of the holidays. I would like to comment on JJ's post because I agree, a lot of people heavy into religion say that animals don't go to heaven. But the Bible talks about animals having a spirit, i.e. a horse having the spirit of a horse, etc. Well, spirit can't die, therefore it's plain to me that the Bible says animals are spirits, and therefore will live on into eternity. I am comforted by this because I too have many animal companions who have passed on, and I am looking forward to spending eternity with them. I believe that Sam is waiting patiently for the day that he and his mom will be together forever. :-)

My daughter and I are up tonight and looking at photos of Sam. You were blessed to have such a loyal friend. Your heart is huge as was Sams. We are sad for your loss but happy that you gave Sam such a happy life full of love!

I am so sorry you miss him. Some folks wonder if animals go to heaven. Many folks heavy into religion say they don't. In this case, with God knowing how much we can love an animal, I hope he allows them into his home so we can see them again. Sam was a special dog. Not only just to you, but to millions of others out there. Thank you so much for sharing him with all of us.
Also, I have linked samugliest.com to my messageboard over at mooreofmandy.com. Hopefully others will come see the joy Sam has brought and he will bring joy to even more.

Hey there, I'm sorry to hear about SAM's passing last year, I know how you feel, My dog Bertha died on my 16TH birthday (2nd December 2004) when she was 14 years old, I'd had her since birth.
The Rainbow Bridge poem made me cry, it just made me think how happy our pets must be in the afterlife and reminded me our pets arn't in pain anymore.
SAM was a special dog not only to you but to the whole world! Not many animals have the privilage of being bigger stars than most celebrities! Even in death! I didn't know anything about SAM until a friend showed me this site in early December 2005, I'm from England and I would have loved! to have met or even seen one of his TV appearances, he's so cute!!
I'm going to leave you now with my love and best wishes to you, your fiancé and your other pets. Much love to SAM too xxx
