I just had my wonderful sister, Annie, visiting me and yesterday we had an interesting experience. Coincidentally, there is a company in Santa Barbara called "Memory Glass". They make handmade, gorgeous crystal balls or globes or pendants with a delicate swirl of your beloved pet or loved one's ashes inside the glass. It may sound a bit morbid, but it is so much nicer than having a box or urn out. I will wear my SAMMIE pendant as it is very beautiful. I figure I can conjure magic with my SAM crystal ball! We took some pictures of the process and will get them on the blog soon with pics of the finished product. I chose the swirl pattern as SAM was always chasing his tail in a circle and I chose a pink glass base to cast a pink glow as SAM was often referred to as "that pink dog"! The owners are two REALLY handsome young men named Loren and Nick. They are so thoughtful, kind and ever so respectful with the "cremains". They are going international with the company and were kind enough to gift my SAM memory glass because we all live in Santa Barbara and because they loved SAM. If you want more info, please see their website. I was able to watch SAM transform into a butterfly of beauty. They let you watch if you want. If you have cremains of a loved one or beloved pet, I want to tell you that this is a wonderful way to think of them and have them near you. I think of the poor widows of the dreadful mine accident in West Virginia, or widows from the Iraq war. (The company generously offers free memory glass to any spouse of a fallen soldier as way of saying thank you.) I think a pendant with the ashes close to your heart would be so meaningful. If you know any of these people, please let them know that such a service is available and very affordable. Or if you know anyone who has lost a beloved pet and has cremains, they may want to create a thing of beauty. All this can be done by mail as the company can explain. Again, I will post the pics soon. Thank you Nick and Loren!
THANK YOU for sharing this site!!! The works are absolutely breathtaking!!! I will have to save, save, save, but I plan on getting some pendants for myself & 5 daughters so we can keep my dad (their Grampy) close to our hearts forever. What a wonderful way to keep a loved one close. Thanks again for sharing. I can hardly wait to see the finished items you're having made!!
