Keep your Friday Hot date

Well...unfortunately..it does look as though SAM has been bumped fpr coverage of the fires in LA which are threatening many celebrities' homes.  I will call "Hollywood" tomorrow and see what I can find out.  SAM is very disappointed so I had to give him a little extra coconut ice-cream to cheer him up.  That is his latest favorite epicurean treat to take his pills.  He tricks me into getting to try all kinds of delightful treats as he is loathe to take his pills.  For a while, it was buffalo meat...then roast chicken..then he was deep into flan..then strawberry rhubarb pie and now either blueberry, strawberry or ..coconut ice cream.  I know these things aren't great for his health BUT you don't know how scary SAM can get when he is refusing his meds!  He is better off taking the heart and kidney medication with these foods than NOT taking them at all.  Besides..he is almost fifteen and I think food is his final and favorite vice...(although he does seem to still fancy the "ladies"on occasion!) You Go SAMMIE!!

"Insider" on Friday instead???

SAM was pre-empted by the fires in L.A., but I now hear that  there is a possibility his segment will air on Friday.  I will post when I hear.  Thanks.
  We are having record breaking heat here in Southern Cal. and so SAM has spent  a hard day on the sofa near the air-conditioner...  It's a tough life but some doggie has to live it!

SAM is on "Insider" TODAY!!

Well...if  my information is correct, SAM will appear today, Thursday, Sept. 29th, on "The Insider" which is the second half of "Entertainment Tonight".  (7:30 CBS in most time zones.)  SAM and I are having a session with L.A.'s famous dog whisperer, Caesar.  It was a strange yet very educational experience.  SAM was SO strangely subdued in front of him...he has a power to make doggies relax.  Tator and SAM (who tend to bicker endlessly) were so relaxed and quiet together, BUT within two blocks of departure, the limo was rocking and growling once again.  It was like kids being good at church and then really letting loose as soon as they got out.  I think the man is magical and brilliant as a dog psychologist, though.  You should see some of these rehabilitated "thug" dogs..pretty scary.!..There was "Pop-eye" missing an eye and some three-legged pit bull..and then there was "Daddy" who is brought out to sit with SAM.  "Daddy" is thee BIGGEST-JAWED creature in the canine world and SAM's little bald head would have easily fit in his mouth.  It was an odd moment of trust as this former killer sat contentedly next to SAM.  I was touched by the presence of some Hurricane Katrina survivors who are there for emotional rehab.  Caesar does an amazing job giving these dogs a new lease on life with his philosophy of exercise, discipline and affection.  SAM's problems are minimal compared to these dogs but we were offered the chence to meet him and off we went.  I am afraid that although I took in everything "the dog-whispere'" told me...SAM is as SPOILED and doted upon as ever and totally running my household!  He is getting old and is so special I just have to make him a king in his old age!  Sorry Caesar!!

Did you catch Carson Daly?

I hope that some of you were able to stay up late and/or tape the "Last Call with Carson Daly".  It was BY FAR my favorite SAM clip yet.  I am working on getting it online here at the blog.
  I want to thank all the translators who helped me with the cryptic message in, probably, Russian.  I guess Russian always seems cryptic, huh?..must have been growing up in the cold war with weird "drop drills" under those extremely protective wooden kids' desks!

Want a dog like SAM??

Here is  copy of a great letter from the Chinese Crested Rescue group.  It seems SAM has helped bring attention to the need for rescuing the less gorgeous.  If you are interested in owning an extremely beautiful (in the eyes of the beholder) and happy, little guy, please check out who is available !  You won't be sorry ..I certainly am not!!!

"HI Susie, We will definitely watch him on Friday!  The little girl that is described as Sam's girlfriend is so adorable!  I understand that you are swamped right now with fan mail.  That's wonderful!  He's doing a lot for the Chinese Crested community.  We've got quite a few older Cresteds available for adoption and people won't give them the chance because they aren't what the average person considers beautiful.  Did you see Roger at www.crest-care.com?  He has been in Crest Care for 2 yrs.  Tasha and Skeeter just lived through Hurricane Katrina.  Because of the dogs, she was unable to evacuate.  However they made it.  Tasha and Skeeter have been in foster care close to two years.  You are one of the few people that will take a chance on a special needs dog and look how it has changed your life!     I look forward to seeing him on TV!  If you are ever in Seattle, let us know!  We'd love to meet you and Sam. Carson Daly Show

  We just returned  in the fabulous limo from Hollywood where SAM was a guest on "Last Call with Carson Daly".  What a cute, nice and really talented guy that Carson Daly is...made me think of a young Johnny Carson.  The entire staff and crew were incredibly friendly, energetic, helpful and nice...even Michelle, the make-up girl who's hand SAM tried to bite...  SAM got to see some of his buddies from the Ugly Dog Contest AND he got to meet and have his picture taken with another guest, Donald Trump.  (He was surprisingly friendly and accommodating..even accepted SAM's gift to him of a T-shirt.)  The other guests tonight, beside "The Donald", were Jenny McCarthy, the band "Smashmouth" and the band "OK GO", who were so nice to SAM backstage and who did the funniest dance at the end of the show.  TatorTot made a "surprise" appearance with my sweetheart, Mark (whom I met through SAM on Online dating service).  Both SAM and Tator were the best little travelers..they slept all the way down, wrapped in cozy blankets on the limo floor, and the same all the way home.  They had a chic latenight supper of roast chicken and are now fast asleep, dreaming of their star on Hollywood Boulevard.  The show is on very late next week so PLLLLLEEEEEAAAASSSSE set those VCRs and Tivos to Friday, September 23, at 1:30 a.m.  NBC
SAM was really on and gave a great appearance so if you are a SAM fan, you won't regret it!!!!!

SAM's first late night show!!

Hooray for Hollywood!  SAM will be making his first appearance on late night TV on "Last Call with Carson Daly".   It seems the show is moving from New York to LA and SAM will be taping tomorrow.  I will let you know when it will air (I think on the 23rd) but you'll need to set the timer...the show airs at 1:30am!  The limo for SAM and TatorTot and six of their human friends arrives Thursday afternoon so off we go on another  SAM adventure!  OH!!  By the way..the other guest for tomorrow's taping is Donald Trump!  I doubt if "The SAM" will meet "The Donald" but you never know.  If he says anything mean about SAM, he will be "fired'!  SAM's Mom

35 Million Hits!

There have been over 35 million hits on SAM's website, SamUgliestDog.com, in just under two months! SAM is being seen in countries all over the world!  We get scores of emails everyday saying SAM is bringing smiles, laughs and cheer to people's lives.  How nice it is to know that kids and adults alike are getting a chuckle from SAM.  SAM is loved by many!

I am from New Orleans and this did bring some much needed chuckles to me and my boyfriend amidst a lot of heartbreak. :) Too funny! I hope to rescue one of the many animals that will be left without a loving owner when all this madness is said and done.

Animals in trouble

It has been such an overwhelming week .... My heart certainly goes out to all the people in trouble but cetainly as well to the animals left behind.  They can't help themselves much ..especially when they are frightened, tethered or stranded...
